Surge Dance Team
Surge is a Hip Hop dance team for High School Students. The students in Surge learn routines from current Philadelphia Hip Hop artists who have performed nationally and internationally. Surge meets two times a week in order to train and perfect their routine as well as build a strong relationship as a team. They have enjoyed entertaining audiences at the halftime shows for the Harlem Globetrotters, 76er’s and Philadelphia Wings, Autism Speaks Walk at the Philadelphia Zoo, Hershey Park, Knoebels and a number of community events.
Dance Team Requirements
- High school student
- Hip-hop or Jazz Funk class
- Ballet class
- Modern/Jazz class recommended
**New:
- Prerequisite two years hip-hop or jazz funk
- Prerequisite two years ballet
- Invitation only auditions
8th graders are encouraged to audition and participate in the weekly training sessions. While it is not certain that they will perform with the team, they will receive the crucial training necessary to join Surge the following year.
