Philosophy
Our emphasis is on creating a fun–loving, close knit environment that draws out the students’ love for dance. Students acquire a heart for dance that embraces technique and increases their skill level. Learning in the arts is student centered; children are encouraged to explore their thoughts, ideas and experiences and translate them into movement.
For young children, focus is on process rather than product; this approach enables students to develop their self-confidence and to trust themselves and others in the creative process. The dancers absorb ballet fundamentals as they play games and use interesting props like scarves, hula-hoops and balls. The skills they learn in these beginning classes build the foundation and passion for all forms of dance. With older children, the product is, in part, the reward. More attention is placed on technique, vocabulary and style as the student discovers the power of live performance.
